Akshar Yoga Centre achieves historic milestone after 70 years

Bengaluru: In a historic achievement that gives global recognition to India’s ancient knowledge, Bengaluru-headquartered Akshar Yoga Centre has been officially conferred with 12 Guinness World Records in Yoga asanas.

This unprecedented achievement not only places India on the global map of yoga excellence but also makes history in the 70-year legacy of Guinness World Records – this is the first time that such a large number of world records have been conferred on a yoga institution in a single day.

The announcement was made formally at a grand event in Bengaluru in the presence of spiritual leaders, yoga practitioners, athletes and journalists from around the world. The recognition comes after the event was held on the occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21, 2025. The event brought together over 2500 participants from various sectors like Indian Army, Air Force, CRPF, CISF, Karnataka State Police, KSRP, Special Forces and NCC – under the guidance of Himalayan Siddha Akshar, founder of Akshar Yoga Centre. The event created a legacy through unity, discipline and devotion to the path of yoga.

Each of these records is not just a statistical milestone but a celebration of India’s timeless yogic lineage – an offering from India to the world. The event was graced by the presence of the chief guests, His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swami (Pejavara Math), His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Shivrudra Swamiji (Baili Math), Shri Seemant Kumar Singh (Police Commissioner), Dr C N Ashwath Narayan (MLA Malleswaram and former Deputy Chief Minister) and Jose Mohan (Inspector General, Central Industrial Security Force).

Speaking on this historic occasion, Himalayan Siddha Akshar, founder of Akshar Yoga Centre, said, “Yoga is India’s gift to humanity. Its power flows through the asanas and leads to transformation.” These 12 Guinness World Records are a tribute to our sages, gurus and scriptures. It is a proud moment for every Indian. Through this achievement, we are ‘taking our lineage to the world and strengthening Yoga as a foundation for global health.’

This grand achievement signals a larger vision – promoting Yoga as a competitive sport and part of the Olympic movement, aligning ancient Indian practices with a contemporary global platform. It demonstrates India’s leadership in creating a global health ecosystem and the potential of Yoga as a unifying force for mental, physical and spiritual well-being.
