SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai, India’s first women’s university, continues to advance its timeless vision of “Sanskruta Stree Parashakti”

In the last two years, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai has achieved remarkable milestones under its New Initiatives for Students’ Health, Fitness, and Sports, promoting holistic growth and excellence.
Landmark programs include the “Khelo Beti, Padho Beti” Scholarship, Sports Enhancement Scheme, promoting fitness and mass participation, development of modern gyms at Churchgate, Juhu, and Pune Campuses, the PM Usha Project (200m Synthetic Track) enhancing athletic infrastructure, and the Updated NEP-aligned Curriculum integrating academics with sports and life skills.
Through these milestones, the University has reaffirmed its focus on women’s empowerment, health, and excellence, bridging academics and sports to create leaders who succeed at every level from classrooms to international arenas.
Ms. Komal Waghmare: Pride of SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai
Carrying forward this spirit of empowerment, Ms. Komal Milind Waghmare, a proud student of SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai has been selected to represent India at the Tokyo Deaflympics 2025, to be held from 15th to 26th November 2025 in Tokyo, Japan, in the 10m Air Rifle – Individual and Mixed Team events.
Trained under Ms. Suma Shirur, Dronacharya Awardee for Shooting and Former Indian Senior Team Coach, Komal has shown exceptional discipline and consistency. Supported by SNDT Women’s University through sports scholarships, training aid, and academic flexibility, she has successfully balanced her education with elite-level training.
Her achievements include the Maharshi Karve Khel Ratna Award 2025 for excellence at the KSS Shooting Championship Nationals in Delhi.
Komal now stands among 111 athletes representing India at the prestigious Tokyo Deaflympics
a proud moment for the University and the nation.
